What this value means
RESIDENT/NON-RESIDENT SPLIT IS 5 PERCENTAGE POINTS AND IS THE MAIN TRAP: resident companies 30%, non-resident companies 35% on profits. There are no size-based bands, no reduced small-company rate and no progressive scale — a single flat rate each way. Branches of foreign companies are taxed as non-residents at 35%. The rate is a flat statutory rate under the Income Tax Act (Cap. 123) and is not re-indexed annually (unlike, e.g., Costa Rica's thresholds), so the series is effectively static between amending Acts. effective_from is NULL DELIBERATELY: the IRD publishes the rates but not the commencement date of the current 30%/35% pair, and neither the consolidated Income Tax Act text nor an amending commencement notice was retrievable in machine-readable form — inventing a date would be worse than serving none. Withholding taxes are levied separately (IRD 'Withholding Tax' page) and are not modelled here. Compliance calendar: annual income tax return due 31 March; balance of tax due 30 September; provisional tax instalments due 20 March, 20 June, 20 September and 20 December. The Tax Administration Act 2022 governs administration, assessment and collection across all tax types. NOT AFFECTED BY THE VAT REFORM: the Value Added Tax Bill 2025, if it is ever enacted, would repeal the Goods Tax, Sales Tax and Stamp Duties Acts but not the Income Tax Act. ACCESS NOTE: ird.gov.sb is fetchable and TLS-valid, but the /income-tax/ page is PARTLY STALE — it still states the old personal tax-free threshold of $15,080 (see the income-tax series). The company-rate sentence on that same page is corroborated by the IRD's /tax-information/ overview page, which repeats 'Resident Companies 30%' and 'Non-Resident Companies 35%'.
