The three moveable local days are computed, not fixed, and are the main source of error in commercial calendars: MOTHER'S DAY is the Monday AFTER the second Sunday in May (second Sunday 10 May 2026 -> holiday Mon 11 May); FATHER'S DAY is the Monday after the second Sunday in August (second Sunday 9 Aug -> holiday Mon 10 Aug); LOTU-A-TAMAITI / White Sunday is the second Sunday in October and the following MONDAY is the gazetted holiday (White Sunday 11 Oct 2026 -> holiday Mon 12 Oct). Note the observance and the festival are different days — sources that list 11 October as the public holiday have confused them. Easter in 2026: Good Friday 3 Apr, the Day after Good Friday 4 Apr (a Saturday, a Samoan peculiarity not found in most Commonwealth calendars), Easter Sunday 5 Apr, Easter Monday 6 Apr. Independence Day is gazetted as 1 June and falls on a Monday in 2026. Boxing Day 26 Dec 2026 falls on a Saturday. Two weekend-falling days (4 Apr, 26 Dec) have no statutory Monday transfer in Samoa; where a gazetted FIXED date falls on a Sunday the following Monday is observed.
