Fiji National minimum wage (hourly)
Fiji National minimum wage (hourly) is 5 FJD per hour, in force since 1 Apr 2025. It was 4.5 FJD per hour before that. Last checked against the official source on 11 Aug 2026.
Fiji's single NATIONAL minimum wage, an hourly floor applying to all workers, prescribed by the Employment Relations (National Minimum Wage) Regulations 2015 made under the Employment Relations Act 2007 and amended by Legal Notice as the responsible Minister (Employment, Productivity and Workplace Relations) determines. Ten SECTORAL Wages Regulation Orders made by Wages Councils set higher floors in particular industries and sit above this rate.

What this value means
CURRENT RATE IS THE SECOND TRANCHE: FJD $5.00 per hour, in force since 1 April 2025. A watcher must not serve the first-tranche $4.50 (1 Aug 2024 - 31 Mar 2025) or the pre-2024 $4.00 — both are superseded. The single Legal Notice (LN 44 of 2024) legislated BOTH tranches at once, giving employers six months' notice of the step to $5.00; so the absence of a new instrument in 2025 does not mean the rate did not rise. NOMENCLATURE CORRECTION: the national minimum wage is NOT set by a 'Wages Regulation Order'. Wages Regulation Orders are the SECTORAL instruments issued by the ten Wages Councils (building and civil engineering, hotel and catering, manufacturing, security services, wholesale and retail trade, garment, road transport, sawmilling and logging, mining and quarrying, printing) and prescribe industry floors at or above the national rate; the national floor itself is a regulation under the Employment Relations Act 2007. Searching for a 'Wages Regulation Order' will return the sectoral rates, not this figure. NO CHANGE IN 2026 — CONFIRMED: the 2026-2027 National Budget (June 2026) contained no minimum wage increase; it instead allocated $100,000 for a review of and further consultation on the minimum wage / a fair-wages framework during FY2026-27. The Fiji Trades Union Congress publicly criticised the omission and continues to press for a 'living wage', so an increase is plausible in the FY2027-28 budget cycle — but nothing is enacted, DO NOT SERVE ANY FIGURE ABOVE $5.00 AS FACT. ACCESS HAZARD: employment.gov.fj (which hosts the gazetted Legal Notice PDFs, e.g. /uploads/notice/LN_44_...pdf) refused all connections from this location (ECONNREFUSED on 124.108.30.77); fiji.gov.fj was also unreachable (ECONNREFUSED 124.108.30.90 / DNS failure) and paclii.org returned HTTP 403. The rate, tranche dates and LN number were confirmed from the Fiji Government's own announcement of the increase and the laws.gov.fj listing of the parent 2015 Regulations; re-verify the gazette PDF text when employment.gov.fj is reachable. The FJD 5.00 per hour national minimum wage was set by reg 4 of the Employment Relations (National Minimum Wage) Regulations 2015 as amended by Legal Notice 44 of 2024, and has applied since 1 April 2025 (the second of two tranches, the first being FJD 4.50 from 1 August 2024); it remains the operative rate in the Laws of Fiji consolidation current to 7 July 2026. Sectoral Wages Regulation Orders made under the Employment Relations Act 2007 set higher minima in a number of industries.
