REFERENCE PERIOD: JUNE 2026 QUARTER. New Zealand's CPI is QUARTERLY, not monthly; there is no official monthly headline CPI. effective_from is the last day of the reference quarter. All-groups CPI rose 4.1% in the 12 months to the June 2026 quarter — a sharp acceleration from 3.1% in the March quarter, materially above the RBNZ's 1-3% target band, and in line with the fuel-driven path bank forecasters had signalled (petrol and diesel price rises were the dominant driver). This confirmation was read from the statically-rendered stats.govt.nz news release, which is primary; the fuller information-release page remains JavaScript-rendered. NEXT RELEASE: September 2026 quarter CPI, due ~mid-October 2026 — re-verify then.
